Matt is the Founder and President of Ferris Financial, LLC. He has been in the financial services industry for 14 years, since starting his career with the New York Life Insurance Company in 2003. Matt is passionate about helping his clients achieve peace of mind and create meaningful legacies through comprehensive financial planning. He partners with his clients to ensure that their families, businesses, and charities are protected and positioned to prosper.

Matt was born and raised in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He began his career with New York Life in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003, where he moved after completing his B.A. and M.B.A. at Ohio University.

After several years as a successful young agent in New York Life’s Charlotte General Office, he moved to Columbus, Ohio to start his own business, founding Ferris Financial, LLC in August of 2006. While growing his Columbus-based business and building more client relationships in Ohio, he also became heavily involved in local politics, running for Columbus City Council in 2009 and 2011. Although he narrowly missed election, his campaigns sparked new dialogue on many critical issues throughout the city’s electorate of more than 700,000. Following his political campaigns were several years of both personal and business growth, beginning with his marriage in 2011 to wife, Lisa. Through 2014, he returned his primary focus to his business, honing his practice as a provider of comprehensive financial planning and building client relationships throughout Central and Northeast Ohio.

To support the continued growth of both his business and their family, Matt and Lisa moved their home from Columbus to his hometown of New Philadelphia in 2014. While continuing to invest in resources and staff at his original Columbus location, Matt opened a second office in Dover, Ohio to better serve his Northeast Ohio clients.

Matt is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the Columbus Estate Planning Council, and a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). In 2015, Matt was elected by his peers to serve as a member of New York Life Insurance Company’s Agents Advisory Council (AAC). Founded in 1946, the AAC is a prominent group of 24 New York Life agents elected to represent the agent force of more than 12,000 to home office. As an AAC member, Matt spent the year working with senior management to develop and implement ideas that will benefit the families, businesses, and communities touched by New York Life.

The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, is recognized globally as the standard of excellence for life insurance sales performance in the insurance and financial services industry. 

After Matt and Lisa moved to New Philadelphia in 2014, family growth followed in 2015 when Matt and Lisa welcomed their first child, a daughter, as well as a new puppy.

Matt’s passions extend beyond financial services and politics. He is an avid reader and constant student of history and economics. He is also a certified Defensive Firearms Instructor. Through his side business, Ferris Critical Defense, LLC, he teaches students of all skill levels practical shooting and pistol handling skills.

Sara serves as Executive Assistant to Matthew Ferris and is a Licensed Service Assistant for Ferris Financial, LLC. In her dual role, she provides administrative support to Matt and customer service to our valued clients.

Sara attended The Ohio State University and brings to Ferris Financial 10 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and Administrative Support. She has held related positions with several marketing agencies in the Chicago, Illinois and Columbus, Ohio areas, most recently as Staff Accountant for a leading advertising agency in Columbus, where she supported a diverse portfolio of clients, from small local to large national brands.

Sara holds a Life, Accident and Health Insurance license with the State of Ohio.
